In the first half of 2026, humanitarian needs continued to intensify as communities faced increasingly complex and overlapping crises, from conflict and displacement to epidemics and climate-related disasters, all against a backdrop of growing funding constraints. As this 2026 Mid-Year Report demonstrates, the IFRC Disaster Response Emergency Fund (IFRC-DREF) remains a critical enabler of fast, flexible and locally led humanitarian action, providing record levels of support to National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies so they can act early, respond effectively and reach communities when support is needed most.
